ABHYANGA ~
HOLISTIC BODY THERAPY & MASSAGE, NORWICH

I am delighted to offer traditional Ayurvedic oil massage for women. Tend to yourself with this deeply nourishing and harmonising treatment. Space is held for you at my treatment room in Norwich on Unthank Road.

What is Abhyanga?

Abhyanga (ah-bhee-yahn-gah) a traditional Ayurvedic full-body oil massage using warm herbal oils, applied generously from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet.

This deeply nourishing treatment is designed to restore balance, support relaxation, and encourage a sense of grounding within the body and mind.

In the classical Ayurvedic text Charaka Samhita, daily oiling of the body is praised for its deeply rejuvenating effects, describing Abhyanga as a practice that “nourishes the body, strengthens the limbs, improves the skin, and delays ageing.”

Benefits of Abhyanga:

This Ayurvedic treatment works on multiple levels of the being - physical, energetic, and emotional.

It supports the calming of the nervous system, encourages healthy circulation, and assists the body’s natural detoxification processes, including lymphatic flow. It may also help to ease muscular tension and promote overall physical ease.

On a deeper level, Abhyanga can support emotional grounding, inner steadiness, and a felt sense of harmony within the body. It invites the system back into balance and supports the body’s natural ability to restore itself.

I share this therapy with gratitude, as it was passed down through the school of Vital Veda, in alignment with the living tradition of Ayurveda as practised by the Raju Vaidyas - a renowned lineage of Ayurvedic doctors, healers, and Vedic scholars from Andhra Pradesh, India.

I hold deep respect for the sacredness of touch and the subtle power of these therapies, and approach this work with reverence and responsibility.

WORDS SHARED BY WOMEN WHO HAVE RECEIVED

"The Abhyanga treatment felt absolutely amazing. I’ve been practising Abhyanga on myself at home, but having it done professionally was such a wonderful experience and felt completely different. So relaxing, nurturing, and restorative. The time went so quickly, which I think says a lot about how comfortable and immersed I felt during the treatment. I also really appreciated how attentive and considerate you were throughout, which made me feel very cared for and at ease."
