AYURVEDIC THERAPY AND TREATMENTS NORWICH
I offer external Basti treatments for women. These potent Ayurvedic therapies can support the body, emotions, digestion and hormonal balance, offering a way to move from pain or tension towards deep rejuvenation and nourishment.
Treatments take place in a sacred, held space at my treatment room on Unthank Road in Norwich.
What is Ayurvedic External Basti Therapy?
External Basti is a potent Ayurvedic therapy in which warm, medicated oil is held over a specific area of the body within a carefully prepared herbal dough ring.
The area is gently prepared before the Basti is placed, and the oil is selected according to your individual needs and the intention of the treatment. The warm oil is then held in place for a period of time, allowing the area to receive sustained warmth, nourishment and therapeutic attention.
Basti can be applied to different areas of the body, including the back, abdomen, chest, heart area, and knee joints,
depending on what we are working with.
It is a simple yet deeply focused Ayurvedic practice, offering time to receive, settle and bring sustained attention to a particular area of the body.
Benefits:
The warmth and medicinal qualities of the oils offer nourishment and support on multiple levels. Depending on the location of the Basti, the oils selected and your individual needs, the treatment can:
-
Relax muscles and connective tissue
-
Encourage healthy circulation and lymphatic flow
-
Nourish joints, nerves and deeper tissues (dhātus)
-
Help ease pain, tension and discomfort
-
Support relaxation and the settling of the nervous system
-
Offer deep nourishment, grounding and rejuvenation
In Ayurvedic understanding, Basti works with the qualities of the oils and herbs, bringing focused attention and nourishment to specific areas of the body.
Beyond the physical effects, the treatment can also offer a sense of emotional grounding, inner steadiness and connection with the body's own intelligence. It is an opportunity to receive, restore and tend to yourself as a whole.

TREATMENT
External Basti is traditionally performed after Abhyanga, the Ayurvedic oil massage. Abhyanga prepares the body through warmth, touch and stimulation of circulation, creating a supportive environment for the Basti treatment that follows.

Therapeutic Integration with Abhyanga
Each treatment begins with 10–15 minutes of partial Abhyanga, using herbal oils chosen to complement the Basti application.
-
For Basti treatments on the back or chest, this involves back Abhyanga
-
For Basti treatments on the front of the body, foot Abhyanga is used to prepare and balance the system
Although a single treatment can be received, Basti is traditionally recommended as a course of 3, 5 or 7 consecutive daily treatments. A series allows the treatment to build over time and is recommended for more sustained results.
PRICING:
1 session 75 minutes - £75

Spend some time in nature
-
Take a gentle walk
-
Journal or reflect
-
Enjoy warm or room-temperature drinks and food
