Ayurvedic Spiced Fruit

Updated: Nov 25, 2023

Simple and quick 5 minutes cooked fruit ayurvedic breakfast recipe.

Embrace the opportunity to attune your well-being with the subtle wisdom of Ayurveda right from the beginning of your day.

Ayurveda emphasizes the balance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and the importance of adapting to the changing seasons. Considering the cold, dry, and unstable qualities that cooler seasons bring, this grounding and warm breakfast can be beneficial for restoring balance. Here's a simple and nourishing Ayurvedic-inspired breakfast recipe:

Ayurvedic Spiced Fruit

1 serving Ingredients:

  • 2 chopped apples (you can use pears too)

  • 1 tablespoon raisins, soaked overnight

  • ½ teaspoon ghee

  • Pinch of cinnamon and cardamom powder or seed

  • 1 clove

  • 1 star anise

  • ¼ teaspoon chopped ginger

  • 1 teaspoon of ground flax seeds

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, gently simmer the cloves, star anise, cardamon and chopped ginger in ghee until a fragrant aroma arises.

  2. Add the chopped apples, plum, and raisins (along with the soaked water) into the pan. Adjust the water level to reach approximately one-third of the mixture.

  3. Allow the ingredients to mix together, ensuring a harmonious infusion of flavours and simmer for 5 minutes or until tender.

  4. Present your Spiced Fruit with a final touch of sophistication—sprinkle a generous serving of ground flax seeds (optional) and three deep relaxing belly breaths.

  5. Enjoy in silence and in connection to all of your senses.

Additional Note: In alignment with Ayurvedic guidelines, it is advised to consume fruits separately from other foods to promote efficient digestion, preventing imbalances such as fermentation, gas and digestive discomfort. For an optimal experience enjoy eating fruit a minimum of 3 hours after, or 2 hours before, your main meals.

I would love to hear how you enjoyed doing and experiencing breakfast this way! Let me know:)

With love and deep inner nurturance,

Ivana
