What is Ayurvedic External Basti Therapy?
External Basti treatments are powerful Ayurvedic therapies that support chronic conditions, hormonal and emotional imbalances, organ dysfunctions, and overall rejuvenation. These treatments are targeted, therapeutic tools that work on both anatomical and energetic layers to facilitate profound healing.
A lesser-known yet deeply potent practice, Basti therapy involves the application of warm, medicated oil held within a ring of dough over specific areas of the body. Whether placed on the lower back (Kati Basti), thoracic spine (Prsta Basti), lungs (Puppus Basti), navel (Chakra/Nabhi Basti), liver (Yakrit Basti), or bladder (Nimnodhara Basti), this method delivers herbal intelligence directly to the tissues and organs, supporting them at the root level.
The body gently drinks in the healing qualities of the oils, which are specifically selected to suit your constitution and the intended therapeutic outcome—whether detoxification, pain relief, or deep nourishment. These oils are not only medicine for the body but also an offering to your deeper being. Your own openness and presence are an essential part of the process.

TREATMENT
External Basti is traditionally performed after Abhyanga, the Ayurvedic oil massage. Abhyanga prepares the tissues by warming, softening, and stimulating circulation-creating an ideal environment for the medicinal oil of the basti to penetrate deeply and act effectively.

Therapeutic Integration with Abhyanga
-
Abhyanga grounds the nervous system before the targeted basti treatment
-
The body is softened, the channels are open, and the tissues become more receptive to the basti that follows.
-
Enhances oil absorption and delivery of herbs into deeper tissues
Each treatment starts with 10–15 minutes of Abhyanga using herbal oils chosen to complement the basti application.
-
For bastis on the back or lungs, this involves back Abhyanga
-
For bastis on the front of the body, foot Abhyanga is used to prepare and balance the system
This treatment can be taken as a one-off, but for optimal results and reduction of all three doshas, a series of 3, 5, or 7 consecutive treatments is recommended.
PRICING:
1 session 75 minutes: £75 | Session of 3: £ 210 | Session of 5: £325 | Session of 7: £420
PLEASE NOTE:
If three or more bastis are used in a single session (typically, only the back basti may be applied in multiples), or if you are having 5 or 7 consecutive treatments, an additional one-off charge of £10–£15 will apply to cover the cost of the extra medicated oils used.
The exact amount depends on the specific medicated oil used for your treatment, and will always be discussed with you in advance.

These simple rituals can deepen the benefits and honour the sacred space you've created for yourself.
I share this therapy with gratitude, as it was passed down through the school of Vital Veda, in alignment with the living tradition of Ayurveda as practised by the Raju Vaidyas—a renowned lineage of Ayurvedic doctors, healers, and Vedic scholars from Andhra Pradesh, India.
I hold deep respect for the sacredness of touch and the subtle power of these therapies, and approach this work with reverence and responsibility.
